Senior Technical Designer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Designer for a 12- to 18-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This in-house, full-time role requires you to be the guardian of our fit standards, maintaining the authenticity and inherent worth of our products through technical excellence. Reporting to the Design Director, you will be the key technical lead responsible for maintaining high standards of fit and construction across multiple categories, primarily focusing on womenswear.
Day to Day:
- Lead the end-to-end technical development process, managing styles from initial design handoff through final production approval.
- Conduct and lead fit sessions with an analytical eye, diagnosing garment construction issues and developing effective, high-quality technical solutions.
- Create, update, and rigorously maintain detailed technical packages, including graded specifications, construction notes, and BOMs.
- Act as an approachable technical partner to the Design team, fostering a collaborative environment with internal teams and overseas vendors.
- Oversee the pattern-making process, ensuring all block libraries and standards are
maintained. - Mentor junior technical team members and serve as the in-house subject matter expert on fit, construction, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5+ years of technical design experience in the apparel industry, with a focus on premium contemporary womenswear and offshore production.
- Exceptional expertise in sophisticated garment construction, fit analysis, and grading for wovens, sweaters, and knits.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, MS Office, and digital product lifecycle data management.
- A proactive, highly organized, and detail-oriented professional capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical issues to both creative and production teams.
- An exceptional eye for measurements and a deep understanding of grade rules.
