Q: Tell us the story behind Mecca Allah.
A: I started dancing pretty young and it kind of set the foundation for understanding that dance is an outlet to help me relieve whatever is going on around me as well as internally. As I got older, I started to understand the greater connection movement has to the body when it comes to healing mentally and physically. That has been in many forms not just dance but yoga, somatic exercises, and much more. Simultaneously, I’ve been interested in the internal body and how equally important it is to understand. It will be a lifetime of learning. So that is pretty much where I’m at and modeling is just a plus! I love being creative and a part of fun projects and experiences so it’s very fulfilling in that way and I’m thankful that I am able to be multi-faceted.

Q: Where do you go when you are looking for inspiration?
A: I find inspiration in my day-to-day life, looking at the people around me, taking walks, sitting in nature and really just observing my surroundings. I also find inspiration in art, music and documentaries. For me it is everywhere.
Q: What is one of your favourite products that you’re most proud of and why?
A: I would say my Shea butter because it is really versatile and good for all skin types. I’ve found the essential oils that I connect with which are Rose, Patchouli, Sandalwood, and even unscented and I feel like those were smells I could never find in a Shea butter which is what made me start making my own.

Q: What are 3 words your friends or family would use to describe you?
A: Creative, introspective and nurturing.
Q: Your advice for anyone looking to kick start their creative journey but don’t know where to start?
A: I think my biggest advice is just to start. It sounds crazy but it’s something that I’ve been guilty of as well. We wait until everything is perfect or say, “I’m gonna do it when I finally have this amount of money or when I have this or that and then I can start it” and all of that just prolongs the process. My biggest advice is just to start. If you’re working a job, start that little side project in your spare time. If you don’t have the funds, make that one piece and then do a pre-order situation. When it comes to modeling, do research, find photographers that you like and reach out to them and say “hey I would love to collaborate with you”. Slowly you will be able to build a portfolio of how you want yourself to be portrayed and then go from there. Don’t ever think that you have to wait until you have a certain amount of money because that is what holds most people back. You really just have to start because once you start, you’ll realize that you can take more steps than you actually think and you start to build a fire and motivation within that helps solve the problems and worries you had.

Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say my style is sporty, influenced by dance, and most of all, comfortable. I also love color and I think that it pops out more when the weather is warmer. Colours make me feel good and I’m really into colour therapy. But yeah, my ethos is whatever I’m wearing I need to be able to stretch, bike and move in it if needed.
Q: What are your favourite fashion trends of all time?
A: Probably the 80s or 90s, I look at photos of my mom and wish she just saved all of her clothes.

Q: If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
A: Live with no fear and don’t stress about what hasn’t happened yet, live in the moment and really just soak up all the good and learn from the bad.
Q: Any upcoming personal projects you’d like to share with us or a sneak peak?
A: I have been working on a collaborative film that I’m really excited about and I can’t wait for it to be finished and for the world to see.
